The bill to bailout the financial industry was rejected by the house of representatives in a vote of 228 -205 today. I don’t know about you, but I was sure the bill was going to pass, so this was a huge surprise. In a way I am glad the bill failed - I don’t think the American taxpayers should have to pay for Wall Street’s bad investments.

Regardless of what commentators or partisans thought, for those still uncertain how they will vote in November the highlight of this debate was the character differences between the two candidates.

I always thought that to be prerequisite to being “down with the struggle” was struggling. This included perpetually renting, living check-to-check, and not having any extra cash to save.

Savings falls into two general categories: short term (in the next five years) and long term (longer than ten years). We will all have emergencies come up, having just $500 available for emergencies may be the difference between paying bills and going into debt.

On September 9, 2008, Brooklyn New York held it’s primary election. Kevin Powell ran to unseat encumbent Ed Towns who has held the seat for 26 years in New York’s 10th congressional district. On the day of the primary, the ladies of Square Rootz showed their support for Powell.
