On May 29, 1973, Tom Bradley became the first Black mayor of Los Angeles and the second of any major U.S. city, who served for five terms from 1973 to 1993. During his tenure Los Angeles hosted the 1984 Summer Olymipc Games, experienced a historial riot, the formation of the Christopher Commision and the expansiaon of the city’s internation airport, with a terminal named after him.
