LOL that was good to watch. Dang weezy is borderline cute in an ‘i have tear drop tattoos all over my face and what’ kinda way. And Ms. Katie is annoying in this one! Thanks for posting.
I’m a fan of his music and Weezy definitely has a lot of original swagger. I’ve read a few of his interviews and haven’t really been moved by too many of them but this is the first one I genuinely loved. I get the feeling that Katie read of a few of those past interviews too and was expecting him to be a stereotypical substance dependant hip-hop artist who is always eager to pour out his story of having a rough upbringing and how he hopes to one day become a better man.
I don’t like in the introduction where she mockingly referred to him calling her Ms. Katie and stated that the interview ending up in the “gutter”, only to mean that they went bowling. Yes, Lil’ Wayne has been known to talk all about getting down on purple drink and smoking weed but Katie’s style of asking him questions obviously put him on the defense. She was hoping to expose his vulnerabilities and Wayne wasn’t haven’t it and I feel him. I love how he looks her dead in the eye and all the “let me tell you something” eyebrow movement he has going on.
I’m tired of the media’s sensationalism and “real journalism” being more akin to tabloids. It’s sloppy across the board and now more stories about brown and black folk, which have consistently been ill reported, are exploitative and continue to perpetuate the idea of us being spectacles.
lol shes praising him one minute, and tried bashing him the next. he put her in her place real quick. i love that quote he said about needing an example on how to live.
I’m HIGHLY OFFFENDED (what else is new?) by this interview! First of all, this is NOT journalism. Ms. Katie failed to ask Mr. Weezy any real questions of substance. I feel like if he was someone she respected or at least someone who she considered to be an intelligent human being, she would’ve asked him some real questions about his work, our society and hip hop music… at least about Obama! damn. I’m not a big fan of Wayne but I definitely respect the way he handled this interview. It seemed like he peeped her and where she was coming from and wasn’t having it. I bet if she was interviewing Jon Bon Jovi or something she wouldn’t be asking about smoking weed or being addicted to syzurp. I found her to be very condescending. AND to top it off, you know they had to show him bowling like, “Look guys, he’s not ALWAYS gangsta! Sometimes he bowls! Just like we do!” Gawd.
this is amazing! respect to Wayne.
peace.
The interview was good and didn’t bother me at all. News reporters are all about ratings and I am sure she got what she wanted. Wayne handled whatever she threw at him. Each culture sets their own standards and when someone from a different culture is interviewing you, that is what you have to deal with. Fan or no fan of Wayne, he remained calm and professional and I commend him for that. A bureaucracy controls what Ms. Katie says and does. If we as a people choose to accept these interviews we have to be ready to accept what they throw at us.
