Swaziland\'s King Mswati III
One would think that in honor of 40 years of independence the entire nation of Swaziland would be up in celebration, but it seems that King Mswati III is the only one reveling in the occasion.

Not only is Swaziland one of Africa’s poorest nations but two thirds of it’s population survive on less than a dollar a day and 40% are infected with HIV, giving the country the highest rate of HIV infection in the world, reports SKY NEWS. How does the king address all this? His officials have released a statement claiming that Mswati’s $176 million fortune belongs to him and not the people.

The citizens of Swaziland are outraged that their monarch can afford to purchase 20 BMWs and send nine of his 13 wives on an overseas shopping excursion, when they can barely afford basic HIV testing kits and plastic gloves. Life may be great for the king but he can’t say the same for his people.

  1. What a shame. They need to have a revolution.

  2. what a good read. you never hear anything about Swaziland.

i don’t understand why people who have don’t feel motivated to assist those that don’t.

  3. I’m doing some more research into this ’cause I know that the press likes to throw us under the bus, but I also do know that the US isn’t the only place with corrupt and apathetic government officials.
