i love seeing these chocolate folks doing what they do. not only are they affectionate, but it’s genuine. it makes me teary eyed everytime i see them.
Thanks for posting this Kat! I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently. I mean, the thing is, Black folks already know how to love… but we may have forgotten along the way. And you can’t blame us. There are absolutely NO images of Black Love in any form of media. I saw a preview for this new epic love story coming out called Australia the other day and it really made me sad. How many more love epics do they need??? Can we get a least one?? As a Black woman, I know we know how to love. We know how to love ourselves, our girlfriends and our men. Seeing the love between Barack and Michelle is truly a trans formative thing. Not only are they brown and in love but they are not afraid to show it. This hasn’t happened for us on a national scale since The Cosby Show (and they weren’t even real!) Let’s hope filmmakers and network television gets a clue.

indeed! i definitely feel a space in me opening up in glee because of the love that they so obviously for one another. i think it’s healing and educating to all of us: love is possible. love is here! much joy and peace and love to the first family!
It seems as if our Prez and his wife lose themselves in each other when they are near each other. I saw a video the other day when they were campaigning. There were so many people on stage shaking his hand. He had his back turned. Mrs. Obama made her way through the crowd and put her hand on his side, he immediately responded to her touch (without turning around) by putting his hand over hers. It was so beautiful. Among all those people, he knew she was behind him. It seemed that touch for him was familiar, disarming, penetrating and electric. Our Prez doesn’t care who knows he loves his wife. As long as this relationship between them stays SOLID, he will be able to conquer the whole world with her as his “Rock”. Loving and knowing you are loved with similar intensity kinda takes your breath away.
