*Quickie* Obama Photo Causing Controversy
Words: Kat Noel • Feb 26th, 2008 • Category: SUBSTANCE.
Senator Obama dressed as a Somali Elder by Sheikh Mahmed Hassan, during his visit to Wajir, Kenya in 2006
There are are accusations that the circulation of the photo is a desperate smear tactic by Clinton, hoping to paint the senator as a “radical Muslim” in the eyes of American voters. In a somewhat non-denial Clinton’s campaign told political blogger Marc Ambinder that there are 700 people in their organization and they can’t be sure the picture came from them: “It is not the intent of the campaign to release this picture to tarnish Senator Obama in any way, but if someone in the campaign thinks the Obama camp gets treated differently by the media, well, they’re right.”
On ABC News yesterday Clinton didn’t deny the charges but stated that she knows nothing about it.

this is photoshopped…it’s not him…trust me.
It’s him but who gives a crap? When Americans go visit other countries we have to adapt to their way of life. The man was in a country where that is the traditional dress. If there are going to be some people who aren’t going to vote for him because of that picture, they weren’t going to vote for him anyway.
This whole thing is a distraction from the issues, where he happens to be kicking ass right now.
I second Tiffany, who cares if he’s wearing that ish.
Black people wear turbans, hell white folks wear turbans too. People all over the world cover their heads. I just saw some Jewish people on La Brea with their heads covered up (well the top part, and I don’t know what that is called). Kat didn’t you just post something on head wraps of the world? You need to send the link to these jerks.
I hate the media sometimes!!!!!
I second and third what the last two folks have said. This is absolutely an indication, however small or large–depending on how you take it, of Barack’s committment to seeing the world and participating in the world around him, a far departure from the “superior” stance assumed by many American “leaders”. If someone takes this picture as an indication of anything else, then they’ve been infected with pure, P-U-R-E, foolishness. I repeat: P-U-R-E foolishness. And I pray for them!
