Yesterday, the Washington Post launched “The Root” - an online  that aims to be a “Slate for black readers,” according to the site’s co-founder and Editor-In-Chief, Harvard University professor Henry Louis Gates Jr.

In addition to featuring today’s new from various black perspetives, the site also hosts an interactive genealogical section to help readers trace their ancestory through AfricanDNA.com, a DNA testing site also co-founded by Gates.
