Anyone else notice this massive church that emerged out of NOWHERE over night on Fulton in-between Classon and Franklin. I was walking down the street a couple of months ago when it stopped me in my tracks. Where did it come from? How did I not see them building it? It’s friggin’ Texas-sized!

Even though I just waited 30 minutes for the B25 to take me two stops (WTF is up with that bus…and the B26?!) and my corny new neighbor is playing the guitar and singing at the top of his lungs (dude, you suck!), I decided it was time to show New York some love.

While Street Beating these past couple days, I noticed something that gave me a surge of energy and excitement. This something was a clear and obvious sign that winter may be over. I almost didn’t want to look at it for fear that it might disappear and I’d be taken away in a windstorm of hail and snow.

Hardware stores can be a frustrating experience for women, and not because we don’t know what we’re doing but because the men in there usually ASSUME we don’t.

A year and a half ago, Chanel Kennebrew had to make a crucial decision. The 26-year-old Art Director worked at a design firm in New York City. When the two partners who ran the firm decided to split, Kennebrew had to choose sides.

There were bins stacked floor to ceiling with your heart’s content of fabric, yarn, sewing machines, paints, scissors, markers, water colors and hot glue guns. After confirming a few more times that everything was in fact F-R-E-E, my sister and I dug in.

We thought we could come in and start doing twirls on the pole immediately, but quickly realized we were in for an intense workout. The simplest moves (climbing four feet on the pole) worked out every part of the body; your girls were sore before the class was even over.
