However optimistic Obama’s supporters are, some political pundits are already disappointed by his cabinet choices. According to those disappointed, Obama’s choices are anything but progressive and are too centrist to meet their lofty ideals of “change” for the coming years.

Obama’s challenge is to surround himself with the intellectual muscle he needs to get significant change accomplished quickly, but to be careful not to appoint too many white men, or two many Black men, or too many men in general.

The vice presidential debate appears to have been a win for both sides of the fence though most polls are showing Joe Biden with a strong lead over Sarah Palin in overall effectiveness. For Joe Biden, this was probably his best debate ever. And for Sarah Palin, she certainly was able to overcome the past couple of weeks worth of bad publicity.

According to this associated press article, Fernando C de Baca’s resignation as GOP chairman in Bernalillo County was announced by state GOP Chairman Allen Weh, one of several top New Mexico Republicans who had called for him to step down.

The bill to bailout the financial industry was rejected by the house of representatives in a vote of 228 -205 today. I don’t know about you, but I was sure the bill was going to pass, so this was a huge surprise. In a way I am glad the bill failed - I don’t think the American taxpayers should have to pay for Wall Street’s bad investments.

Regardless of what commentators or partisans thought, for those still uncertain how they will vote in November the highlight of this debate was the character differences between the two candidates.
